Hello! Thank you for visiting my site. My name is Marcelo Bronstein.
Academic and Professional Background
The intersection of spirit and psychology has always fascinated me. I began my academic studies in clinical psychology at Universidad de Belgrano in Buenos Aires, completing two post graduate programs before emigrating to the United States. There I earned a BA in Jewish studies from the University of Judaism in Los Angeles, followed by a Masters in Jewish studies and rabbinic ordination from Hebrew Union College in New York.
My clinical training spans psychoanalysis and other approaches to the human psyche, including Jungian, family systems, and relational psychotherapy. For the past ten years, I have been supervised by Esther Perel and continue to be part of her team of therapists under her guidance.
My orientation has always been values based, with a strong inclination toward spirituality and mindfulness. Over the years I have served on boards focused on social justice, health, ecology, special needs, and interfaith work in the U.S. and abroad. I have been deeply inspired by thinkers who bridge the psychological and the spiritual, among them Viktor Frankl, Claudio Naranjo, Humberto Maturana, Parker Palmer, and Otto Scharmer.
I draw on almost forty years of experience as a rabbi and psychologist, working at the intersection of psychology, mindfulness, and spirituality through one on one therapeutic treatments online, retreats, and workshops, with individuals and groups alike.
My Personal Journey
All my life I have been shaped by teachers and seekers, beginning with my grandparents. They gave me a love for classical music, philosophy, social justice, deep conversation, celebration, and the transformational power of being immersed in nature.
My path was not always easy. Undiagnosed dyslexia made my school years painful, but I was fortunate to have teachers and mentors who saw more in me than a diagnosis. Their wisdom helped me find my own voice, first as a youth camp leader, and eventually as a director.
I have never stopped being a seeker, and one of the deepest truths to emerge from my education and experience is the undeniable power that time in nature holds for personal growth.
My Approach and Philosophy
My mindfulness approach to therapeutic work is grounded in curiosity, awareness and growth. It begins with recognizing the patterns and narratives that keep us stuck, then meeting them with curiosity and compassion to see new paths forward. Between stimulus and reaction there is a space. Through dedicated time and attention, we can stretch that space and find the freedom to choose how we show up in life.
Much of the difficulty we carry comes from a disconnect between the self and the rhythms of nature. We impose artificial demands on our lives that leave us fragmented. I invite each person into their own journey of change, shaped around who they are.
Accepting change is a courageous act of radical imagination. It takes trust to imagine a different reality, and determination to walk that path, which is nearly impossible to do alone. Seeking guidance is one of the most intelligent and courageous moves we can make for ourselves.
I believe in a wisdom born of lived experience and real personal work, one that ripples beyond ourselves. When we tend to our own well being, we become better equipped to tend to the world's.
